             abstract = "This paper present a methodological approach of image segmentation 
                         technique applied to fraction images derived from TM-Landsat 5 and 
                         ETM-Landsat 7 data for classification and land use and cover 
                         mapping. S{\~a}o Sebasti{\~a}o municipality was selected due its 
                         high diversity land use and urban expansion rates, especially in 
                         the last few years. The tendency of the urban growth area will 
                         revealed by crossing results and over land of thematic layers 
                         using LEGAL language of SPRING (GIS software). We expect that 
                         findings results will clearly show the temporal changes occurred 
                         in the land use and vegetation cover of the study area.",
